Overview

  • There are no plans to introduce retail electric choice in Kansas.
  • In October 2001, the Kansas Corporation Commission reaffirmed its decision to prevent Western Resources (Kansas Gas & Electric and Kansas Power and Light) from implementing a corporate restructuring plan, on the grounds that the move would leave utility operations saddled with debt, threatening reliable service to customers.

Natural Gas
Overview

  • The state does not have retail choice in natural gas. Large-volume industrial customers may purchase gas from another source.
