Overview
- Idaho began investigating electric restructuring in 1997 and concluded that it would
result in higher rates. A 1999 legislative study recommended a slow approach to utility
deregulation, and there has been little action on the matter since then.
Natural Gas
Overview
- The state has no unbundled service programs for residential customers. No retail
unbundling program is being considered at this time by either the Idaho Public Utilities
Commission (PUC) or the state legislature. Only large industrial customers can receive
unbundled service from the local distribution company.
